Obituary for Rick Ireland

Rick L. Ireland of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday morning, January 21, 2015, at his home at the age of 62 years.
Rick L. Ireland was born on March 14, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Ernest Leon and Patsy Ada (David) Ireland. He grew up in Mannford, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Mannford High School in 1970. He furthered his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford where graduated with a degree in pharmacy. While in college he married Jane Ann Garrett on August 18, 1972, and following graduation they returned to Mannford where they worked as registered pharmacists in a store her father had owned. In 1980 they moved to Blackwell where he began as a pharmacist for Blackwell Regional Hospital. He later worked at Graves Drug Store before becoming the lead pharmacist for Wal-Mart in Blackwell where he was working at the time of his death. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities including boating, fishing, snow skiing and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed traveling, watching various sporting events and attending his children and grandchildren’s many activities.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Ireland of Blackwell; three sons, Ryan Ireland and April of Ponca City, Erick Ireland and Heather of Denver, Colorado, and Kevin Ireland of Blackwell; his mother, Patsy Ada Ireland of Blackwell; a sister, Debbie Bunch and Ron of Tulsa; a daughter-in-law, Amanda Ireland of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren, Rylie and Ryder Ireland of Houston, Texas, and Olivia Ireland of Ponca City.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Patrick Ireland.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 26th in the Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Elm Cemetery in Leach, Oklahoma.
Casketbearers will be Erick Ireland, Ryan Ireland, Kevin Ireland, Josh Coble, Shane Coble and Jay Hopkins.
A memorial has been established in his honor for his grandchildren’s education fund in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
