Richard Morrison

June 30, 1938 – April 30, 2020

On April 30th, 2020 Richard E. Morrison received a call for a job with an offer he could not refuse. A job from which he would not be returning from. This job came with a huge sign on bonus. A reunion with his beloved wife, Phyllis and a chance to meet his maker. This job was to become a guardian angel to his loved ones.

Richard Morrison was 81 years young when he got this call. Richard was best known as Paw. Paw was born to Walt and Florence Morrison on June 30, 1938 in Tulsa Oklahoma. Paw grew up in a very loving home. He led a very full life. After high school he enrolled in the Air Force, where he worked on the base. He then moved to San Antonio where he found his dream job. Paw became a disc jockey. He was told by many that he had an incredible voice for radio. After that he became a truck driver. Which he did with his wife until he retired. Paw always had a smile on his lips and a joke at the ready to make you laugh. He was an astonishing storyteller and loved to share the stories of his life experiences. On March 21, 1980 he married “The love of his life” Phyllis Morrison. They had a marriage full of love and laughter. Paw was a Christian who chose to keep his faith very close to his heart.

Richard “ Paw” Morrison was welcomed into his new role as guardian angel by his wife Phyllis Morrison, sister Jody Wesnitzer, daughter Donna Hallum, grandson John Ellis and parents Walt and Florence Morrison. He is survived by his daughters Barbara Novak, Mitzie Richardson and husband Jerry. Sister Kay Morrison. Grandchildren Corey & Kelly Bookout, Shannon Ellis, Taylor Novak, Trever Novak, Alicia Hardin & Tim Hardin. Great Grandson James “J” Paschall Jr. And a friend as close as a brother Jim Gallaspie. And many other family and friends.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to a special nurse known only to them as Megan who was with him holding his hand until he received his call. Along with the other remarkable Doctors, Nurses and Staff at VA Hospital in Oklahoma City.

A graveside service with family & friends will be held at a later date due to the current pandemic.

Paw made a request to be put in his obituary. Instead of sending flowers that were just going to die. He asked that you grab your loved ones, sit down to a good meal and share stories of his life’s adventures. Stories of his love, his humor, his generosity and his unstoppable troublemaking antics he was so well known for.
