Raymond Dale Waller
April 3, 1936 – October 19, 2022
Raymond Dale Waller of Ponca City, died Wednesday morning, October 19, 2022.
Raymond Dale Waller was born April 3rd, 1936, in High Point, North Carolina. He was the first born to Forrest and Katherine (Wolz) Waller. At a young age, the family moved to Ponca City and settled at the homestead in the Osage.
Ray attended McCord School, East Jr. high, and graduated Po-Hi in 1954. Raymond wrestled and played football. On March 5, 1956. Ray married Mary Lou Brewster in Ponca City. In 1956, they moved to Maywood, CA where Raymond worked for Chrysler Auto Manufacturing. In 1957, they moved back to Ponca City.
Ray worked for J. Paris Furniture, Pioneer Wholesale, and before beginning his 32 year career as a dedicated Conoco employee, starting in the refinery, transportation and fire department, ending his career in the first safety as Chief Fire Marshall.
In retirement, Ray never just sat, he had to be busy. He drove for Mike Alexander at Malco, and after Mary Lou passed, he drove cars for Heather Cannon Honda. He never said “no” to anyone and was always helping his kids and grandkids.
Ray is survived by two sons, Gary Waller and Bill Waller and wife Kim, and one daughter Dede Waller, all of Ponca City; three brothers Don Waller, Fred Waller, and Keith Waller; one sister Kay Waller Wells; seven grandsons and ten great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Waller is preceded in death by his wife of 65 1/2 years, two brothers Jim Waller and Ken Waller, and his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Waller’s name to Sunset Baptist Church, 915 W Greenwood Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
Public viewing will be held on Monday and Tuesday, October 24 and 25, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Trout Funeral Home of Ponca City. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Ponca City.
