Randy Hand, 65, passed away January 2, 2023 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Randy was born November 20, 1957 to Robert “Bob” Hand, and Mary Jane (Standerfer) in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He attended Ponca City Public Schools. In 1981 He became the father of twins. Randy started working at Dixie Dog in 1980 where he met Rhonda Wright. After the birth of their first child Barry in 1982, he went on to work at the Coke Factory with his father in law. Their second child Chelsea was born in Fredricksburg, TX in 1985. He later moved to Alabama where he was a grocery store manager for a large chain. During that time he met Marla. The two were wed and had a son Joseph in 1991. After their divorce Randy moved back to Oklahoma. Later he moved up by Seattle continuing his career as a manager in the grocery industry. He again came back to Oklahoma to be closer to his children. He worked in several places in Ponca city through the years including an activities director at the nursing home in Tonkawa, as a call representative at Sykes, opened with Lowes, Gibson’s discount store, and Walmart (when they were first open at the current location), worked with his brother in a family flooring business, then he later He later became a driver trainer with Swift Trucking where he worked until his first heart attack in 2004. He then kept busy hanging out at his brother’s store, Carpet Specialties, on Grand. Around 2005 he met Dora who at the time worked at Subway two doors down the block where he got lunch and his ice tea every day. They became friends and eventually married October 18, 2007. He took her son John on as his own and in 2009 they had a daughter, Tatum. They maintained residence in Ponca City. Randy was a unforgettable character, who left an interesting mark on the people he met.
Randy is preceeded in death by his parents, and step-father Neal Foster, his infant son, infant grandaughter, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a nephew.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, his children- Elizabeth, Barry, Chelsea, Joe(Kaylii), John, and Tatum, his siblings Vickie (Lonnie Hebert), Chris Hand(Becky), Melanie Barron (Peter), numerous grandchildren including, Ryan, Dallas, Michael, Dakota, Bella, Alex, Adalyn, Hayley, Jalyn, Kenna, and Scarlett. Also left to cherish the memories are his best friend Don, the “Garrett Wrangler Breakfast Gang”, his Glad Tidings Church family, the Walmart Pharmacy staff, and many other friends and family.
There will be a Memorial Gathering at the Carolyn Renfro Event Center- Fireside Room on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. This is an informal gathering to share memories and spend time together. Randy requested this family reunion style gathering in lieu of a formal funeral or service.
