Obituary for Ramon Barrows

Ramon Pete Barrows of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Saturday morning, July 11, 2015, in the Shawn Manor Nursing Home in Ponca City at the age of 97 years.
Ramon Pete Barrows was born on October 19, 1917, in Newby, Oklahoma, to John Elmer and Mary Alberta Condesee (Wynette) Barrows. As a young man he moved with his family to Washington where they worked on the White Pass near Mt. Rainier. Before the construction was finished, World War II began and he entered the United States Army serving in the motor pool. Following his service he returned to the greater northwest and began working for the United States Army Engineers on a barge on the Columbia River in the Oregon-Washington area. During this time he married Martha Miller and to this marriage were three children, Lawrence Glenn, Daniel Elmer and Patricia Mary. Ramon later married Nettie Arlene Harding on May 28, 1966, and her two sons, David and Marc, became his. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2001. Following her death he moved to Oklahoma to make his home and be with his son, Lawrence.
He is survived by four sons, Lawrence G. Barrows, Daniel E. Barrows, David Harding and Marc Harding; a daughter, Patricia Brown; twelve grandchildren, Mike, Daniel, Ricky, Danielle, Clarajo Dan, Mary, Scott, Mike, David Jr., John, Matt and Christina; several great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Barrows; a sister, Alta Henneke; and two grandsons, Lawrence R. Barrows and Clifford D. Barrows.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Rev. John Waterloo of Central Baptist Church in Ponca City officiating. Military rites will be performed by the United States Army.
