May 6, 1938 – November 16, 2017
Ralph Dean Walthall was born in Ranger, Texas to Philip “Mark” and Bernice Walthall on May 6, 1938. He was their second son and passed away on November 16, 2017, at the age of 79, in Winfield, Kansas.
Ralph grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma and graduated high school in 1956. He studied geology in Tulsa for two years. He then went into the Air Force, where he served eight years and attained the rank of Tech Sergeant. He earned an Electrical Engineering degree at Oklahoma State University in 1974. After working in Iran for several years, he continued his career in Tucson, Arizona working for Bell Helicopter and contracting with the Army at Fort Huachuca.
Ralph never married. For many years, he was a resident of Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, Kansas.
He is survived by his mother, Bernice (102) at Via Christi, of Ponca City; his brother, Philip and wife Fran of Arizona; nieces, Tammy Wylie and Janet Walthall Backman; great niece, Anna Wylie and great nephew, Aric Backman all of Washington state and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Roberta Shaffer officiating.
