Phyllis Ann Wooderson

Phyllis Ann Wooderson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday evening, November 14, 2017, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 80 years.
Phyllis Ann Wooderson was born on August 23, 1937, in Whitefield, Oklahoma, to Lindsey Earl and Velma Mae (Warren) Tackett. As a young girl she moved with her family to Blackwell where she graduated from Blackwell High School in 1955. She married Verle Wooderson on August 26, 1955, in Blackwell and they settled on a farm north of town where she served her family as a homemaker and helped with the family farming operation. In 1982 they moved into Blackwell to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death on August 16, 2004, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Growing Christians Sunday School Class. She also held membership in the Blackwell Red Cross and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, square dancing, traveling, and playing various card games, especially bridge. Her ultimate joy came from her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Janell Ellis and husband Ted of Blackwell; two grandchildren, Sean Skaggs and companion Jessica of Ponca City and Devin Skaggs and wife Patricia of Blackwell; and two great grandchildren, Easton Skaggs of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Jaedynn Skaggs of Blackwell.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wayne Wooderson; a brother, Kenneth Tackett; and two sisters, Earline Tackett and Jackie Leslie.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 17th in the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Cap McIlnay officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
The Growing Christians Sunday School Class will serve as honorary casketbearers. Casketbearers will be Steve Wooderson, Ken Leslie, Lance Osgood, Jason Stuever, Zane Terry and Jesse Terry.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the First United Methodist Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
