Obituary for Penny Rhodd

Penny Rhodd, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Friday January 9, 2015, at Ponca City Medical Center. He was 78.
The service will be held at 2:00 pm, at the Ponca Methodist Church with Jim White officiating. Burial will then follow at the Ponca Indian Cemetery in Ponca City, Ok. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Penny was born on November 14, 1936 to Lemuel Rhodd, Sr. and Iva Little Standing Buffalo in Ponca City, OK. He was raised in Ponca City, OK. he was married to Deanna Rhodd on May 26, 1956 in Ponca City, OK. Penny started working for Conoco at the age of 16 and from there worked as a mechanic for numerous jobs. He retired as the Chief of Police from the Ponca Tribe. He Enjoyed going to bingo, working on cars, and being with his family.
He is survived by Wife, Deanna of the home; four sons: Darrell Rhodd of Ponca City, Tommy Rhodd of the home, Penny Bo Rhodd, Jr. and wife Mary of Ponca City, Bobby Joe Rhodd Sr. and wife Suzette of Marland; three daughters: Cheryl Rhodd of Marland, Elizabeth Yahola of Ponca City, Alvina Byrd and husband Michael Sr. of the home; four brothers: Douglas Rhodd Sr., Lemuel Rhodd Jr., Henry Rhodd Sr. all of Ponca City and Gene Ben Zaitchek of Blackwell; three sisters: Cecelia Howard, Sharon Dawson both of Ponca City and Mary Akers of Delaware; thirty three grandchildren, seventy four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Penny was preceded in death by his parents, two sons: Benji Rhodd Sr. and Ray Rhodd; three brothers: Carlton Rhodd, Pete Rhodd Sr. and Vernon Rhodd Sr.; one grand daughter Rena Raylynn Yahola and one great-grand daughter Mary Elizabeth Gomez.
Casketbearers will be Curtis Rhodd Sr., Derek Yahola Sr., Daniel Yahola Sr., Francis Rhodd, Luis Rhodd and Waylon Rhodd.
Honorary casketbearers will be Benji Rhodd Jr., Machu Yahola, Michael Byrd Sr., Bobby Joe Rhodd Jr., Ethan Byrd, Nickolas Rhodd Sr., Raymond DeLodge, Arlen Rhodd, Michael Byrd Jr., Mark Buffalohead Sr.
