Peggy Joyce Weaver
July 6, 1930 – November 8, 2019
Peggy Walkley Weaver-Morrison was born July 6, 1930 to Frank and Jeanette Walkley. She spent time growing and living in Nardin, Tulsa and Blackwell. Her first job was working at the candy counter at H. H. Kress in Blackwell. She graduated from Blackwell High School in 1948, and spent many homecomings celebrating with her class. They always stayed close as a class and loved organizing class activities and their class float.
In 1948, she met and married Don M Weaver. They lived in the oil patch and started a family. Weaver Well Service grew and so did their three children, Mike, Greg, and Julie. Peggy was very active in many organizations in Blackwell including Ladies Auxiliary, United Way, and the American Red Cross. She donated her time at Blackwell General Hospital providing cheer to patients. She was involved as a den mother for her sons Boy Scout troops . She was a member of the Blackwell Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and she and Don sang in acapella groups for weddings and funerals. Peggy also enjoyed being a homemaker and spending her free time playing golf, bridge and socializing with friends at the Blackwell Golf and Country Club.
After Don’s death in 1970, they sold the businesses in Blackwell and Peggy and Julie moved to Oklahoma City. With Mike and Greg away at University, Julie in high school and later college, Peggy became involved with the Ladies Golf Association and spent time traveling, entertaining her group of friends and gathering with the nice tie club. She could set a table and prepare a meal in short order that had the appearance that she had planned the details for days. She had that ability to make any gathering a party and any guest welcomed. She was known as a loyal friend who cared for you – if you were sick, she tended to you -if you were hungry, she fed you-if you were sad, she cheered you.
The center of her universe was her family. She was SUPER grandma .. from Soccer games or making popcorn balls or the time she carried life size Big Bird on the plane from Oklahoma City to Phoenix because her Granddaughter needed her stuffed animal and he was too large to Fedex.
In her later years Peggy met and married Frank Morrison. They were married fifteen FULL years. Frank was an extremely kind and good man who provided Peggy with the best care and strength a lady could have as her memory declined. He preceded her in death in 2018. They loved entertaining in their beautiful home, ballroom dancing, or having the church group over for chili.
Her last words to Julie just this past week, “what can I do for you?” embodied her generous spirit. Even in the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease her love for her family and consideration would shine through. We believe that she was homesick to be with Michael her firstborn, who perished in the Murrah bombing.
Peggy is survived by her children, Greg and wife Michelle of Tulsa, Julie and husband Mike of Del City, and Donna Weaver McGinty, daughter in law and widow of her late son, Michael D Weaver. Peggy would wish to express her gratitude appreciation and love to her daughter in law, Donna for her continued love and support . They shared a special bond throughout these years.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeff (Melanie), Tim (Lisa), Rory (Ashley), Nicole Allie (Jeremy), Rachel (Wes), Casey and Katie. She has nine great –grandchildren, Paiton, Weston, Max, Mason, Layla, Michael, Grant, Bowie and Ziggy. She is also survived by one sister, Donna and one brother, Bill.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia, Evelyn, and Patsy.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 13th in the Braman Cemetery with Lanny Jobe of the Blackwell Church of Christ officiating.
Casketbearers will be Mike Dill, Jeff Weaver, Rory Jones, Tim Weaver, Wes Schopf and Jeremy Friesen.
The entire family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the daily staff Touchmark Assisted Living and Centennial Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
