Anna M. (Peggy) Krider passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the age of 75. Peggy was born in Muskogee, OK on October 15, 1941 to Herbert E. and Anna Margaret (Gotwals) Anderson. She attended Muskogee Schools graduating in 1959. She attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1963 with an Education degree. That fall she began her teaching career at Ponca City High School as an English teacher. After two years at Po-Hi, she returned to college and received her Master’s Degree in Counseling. She met John Krider in the fall of 1964, beginning a 53-year courtship. They were married in Grace Episcopal Church in Muskogee in June 1966. They had two children, John A. (Andy) in 1970 and Laura E. in 1971. While Andy and Laura were young, she felt her most important role was to stay at home with them. Peggy returned to teaching at Po-Hi in 1975 where she taught English and was the sophomore girls counselor, later becoming a full-time sophomore counselor until her retirement in 1998. After retirement, she worked for ACT for two years and then obtained her psychometry certificate and administered testing for the Ponca City Schools until 2012.
Peggy was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, PEO, United Methodist Women, Quilt Guild and served on the board of the Child Development Center. She and John were long time members of Wauhillau Outing Club where they spent many summers and developed lifelong friends. Peggy loved to quilt, cook, bake and one of her favorite things to do was decorating cookies at Easter and Christmas with her children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She loved to play bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs over the years. She and John belonged to a domino group that met weekly for over 15 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 45 years and was very active in her community. She was a voracious reader up until her death.
Peggy is survived by her husband, John of 51 years, son, Andy and wife, Traci of Broken Arrow, OK, daughter, Laura and husband, Jeffrey Martin of Oklahoma City, OK, two grandchildren, Devin and Hannah Martin, brother, Andy Anderson and wife, Marty of Muskogee, OK, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Anna Margaret Anderson.
Casket bearers will be Evan Anderson, Eric Anderson, Rusty Bradley, Steve Bradley, Charles Gotwals Jr., Jim Gotwals and Jim Kelly. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Royce Caldron, David Chanslor, Brice and Grace Chism, Phil and Carol Howe, Dick and Arleen Jacobson, Wes and Patty Schneider and Joyce Shreffler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Memorial Fund or the Child Development Center.
A funeral ceremony for Peggy will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Ponca City on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 2pm. The family will be meeting friends at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, October 2nd from 6-8pm.
