Obituary for Paul Burris

Paul Burris of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2014, in the Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 84 years.
Paul Burris was born on May 25, 1929, in Westville, Oklahoma, to Teddy W. and Rosie (Rankin) Burris. He grew up in Westville attending Westville Public Schools. Following his education he worked as a farmer until he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged on November 16, 1951. Following his discharge he began working at the Acme Foundry in Blackwell. He married Margarette Roberts on December 22, 1964, in Medford, Oklahoma, and they settled in Blackwell where he continued working at the foundry until his retirement in the mid 1970’s. He then began working as a machinist for Wetmore’s United Farm Tools in Tonkawa before later becoming the building superintendent at the Equity Plaza Apartments in Blackwell. He then worked for Crow Manufacturing until ill health forced his retirement in late 2013. He enjoyed fishing and watching college football.
He is survived by his wife, Margarette Burris of Blackwell; a daughter, Pauletta Wymer and husband Larry of Edgerton, Kansas; three sons, Paul Phillip Burris and wife Renee of Harrah, Oklahoma, Jimmy Dewayne Burris and wife Christle of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Stephen Leeowen Burris and wife Tabatha of Midland, Texas; three sisters, Virginia Todd of Kennewick, Washington, Anita Lou Fields of Seattle, Washington, and Layvonne Tehee of Stilwell, Oklahoma; two brothers, Eugene Burris of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Nolan Burris of Pasco, Washington; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Bartosovsky; two sisters, Lola Mae Burris and Velma Malcom; and three brothers, Calvin, Melvin and Glenn Burris.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 10th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Blackwell Cemetery.
