Orwin Maxson

February 14, 1927 – April 18, 2018

Orwin Gene Maxson, age 91, a resident of Ponca City, passed away on April 18, 2018, with his family by his side.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 5th, 2018 at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery 24547 61st St, Arkansas City, KS 67005.

He was born on February 14, 1927 to Noble and Violet (Reed) Maxson in Arkansas City, KS.

Dad served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, then attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. After working in the plastic industry he moved the family back to Ponca City to work for Conoco in research and development for twenty four years until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed doing many activities ranging from being outside sailing, golfing and hunting to reading a book.

Orwin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joanne Maxson; five children: Jennifer Gentry and husband Art, Stephen Reed Maxson and wife Gloria; Jeffrey Robert Maxson, Page Frank Maxson and wife Marichu Bello, and Amy Grace Viele and husband Jimmy; one brother, Rodney Maxson and wife Milley; two brother-in-laws: Bob Hinson and wife Ada, and Paul Hinson and wife Monica; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, extended friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Noble and Violet Maxson, and one brother, Lewis Maxson.
