Obituary for Opal Fleming

Opal Lucille Fleming formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 94 years.
Opal Lucille Fleming was born on March 30, 1920, in Blackwell to Edward Lorenzo and Myra (Boren) Staten. She grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools. Following her education she married James Russell Fleming on June 7, 1937, in Enid and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1944 they moved to Portland, Oregon, and in 1945 returned to Blackwell. Her husband preceded her in death on August 3, 1992, and she later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to live with her daughter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed walking, crocheting, baking and talking on the telephone with her many friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Sylvia Mason of Blackwell; Susan Daly of Tulsa, and Christina Fleming of Ft. Worth, Texas; two son, James Fleming of Miami, Florida, and Dale Fleming of Blackwell; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Walter Staten; and five sisters, Fay Branine, LeeElla Johnson, Eula Arnote, Bonnie Brown and Nelda Rosson.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Rev. Randy Ratliff of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 388, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
