Neva Wells
(December 28, 1928 – November 25, 2015)
Neva Franklin Wells of Ponca City passed away on November 25, 2015. She was 86 years of age. Neva struggled with health issues related to Parkinson’s disease during the last 5 years of her life. She was truly fortunate that God brought many loving individuals to help during that time. The family would like to extend their thanks to all of those dear friends and caregivers. Extreme gratitude goes out to Michele Owens who went beyond the call of duty to provide Neva with the very best of care to the very end.
Neva grew up in Whitesboro, Texas where she was born on December 28, 1928 to Claude L. and Marie Mae (Milliken) Franklin. After high school graduation, she moved to Fort Worth and worked for General Dynamics where she met and married Edd Wallace Wells on December 17, 1954. They shared almost 55 years together before Edd’s passing in December of 2009.
Neva became a stay-at-home mom when their only child, Kimberly, was born in 1958. In 1971, the family moved to Ponca City to build and operate the first convenience grocery and gas business in town known as The Country Store. Neva and Edd retired from their store in 1985.
Neva is survived by her daughter Kim Hodges and husband Michael of Billings, Montana. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Grace Hodges, of Billings. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Jolynn Franklin. Services have been entrusted to Trout Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held at Trout Funeral Home on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 4-8 pm. A private burial will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Ave, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.
