Neva Dee Bales
August 28, 1937 – June 6, 2020
Neva Dee Bales, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 in Wichita. He was 82 years old.
Neva was born on August 28, 1937 in Madill, Oklahoma to his parents, Duff and Asa Bales. As one of ten children, he grew up in Madill, graduated high school and entered the United States Navy. Neva’s sister had a good friend named Barbara Anduss who began writing to Neva while he was in the Navy. Upon his honorable release of duty, he moved to Ponca City and married Barbara on November 26, 1960 in Hominy, Oklahoma.
Neva was a simple man who lived a simple life. He enjoyed working with his hands and could fix absolutely anything. Besides tinkering and fixing things, he enjoyed reading and watching westerns, especially those staring John Wayne.
Neva is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Barbara Bales of Ponca City, son, Anthony Bales of Ponca City, Teresa Sober of Park City, Kansas, Gary Bales of Ponca City, and Patrick Bales of Bixby, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Holly Lutton, Brian Sober, Ethan Bales, Betsy Bales, Casey Badley, and Wesley Badley, great-grandchildren, Avery Lutton, Paetyn Badley, Leryn Badley, Cayson Badley, Brytton Badley, and Hayden Badley, and siblings, Nyoka Green, Linda Brookshire, Becky Olmstead, Sheila Bales, Donna Schnell, and Carlo Bales.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duff and Asa and siblings, Felica Bales, Edward Bales, and Danny Bales.
Neva will be cremated and laid to rest during a graveside ceremony at 10:00am, Friday, June 12, 2020 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City.
Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
