Nelda Catheline Pemberton

Nelda Catheline Pemberton of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Wednesday morning, October 4, 2017, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 91 years.
Nelda Catheline (Cassidy) Pemberton was born on September 23, 1926, on a farm southwest of Braman, Oklahoma, to Mike and Viola (Bryan) Cassidy. She grew up on the farm and attended Pleasant View School until it closed. Her two brothers and she then stayed on their grandmother Bryan’s farm to attend Dilworth School. Following its closure, she attended Blackwell High School and graduated in 1944. On March 7, 1946, she married Jack Winfred Pemberton in Wichita, Kansas, and their settled in Braman where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1950 they moved to Blackwell before moving to Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, in 1969. In 1987, they returned to Blackwell to make their home and be near family. Her husband preceded her in death on April 24, 2011, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the Blackwell Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Don Pemberton of Newkirk and Brad Pemberton of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Dorven Patrick Cassidy and James Hugh Cassidy.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 5th in the Braman Cemetery with Nelda’s family officiating.
A memorial has been established in her honor the Blackwell Church of Christ Missionary Fund in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
