Nelda Lee Conrad

Nelda Lee Conrad of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died late Wednesday evening, February 22, 2017, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 88 years.
Nelda Lee Conrad was born on October 17, 1928, in Marion County, Arkansas, to Deavy J. and Bertha Lee (Harris) Barnett. As a young girl she moved with her family to Cleveland, Oklahoma, where she attended school. Following her education she worked various jobs before marrying L B Conrad on January 29, 1948, in Wellington, Kansas. Following their marriage, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1949 they moved to Blackwell and she began working for the Hazel-Atlas Glass Plant. When they started their family she returned to the home and later worked as a cake decorator. She was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday School, worked in Vacation Bible School and served as Sunday School Secretary and Children’s Director. She also enjoyed working in the garden, painting ceramics and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Bouska and husband Herman of Blackwell, and Pamela Conrad of Blackwell; a son, Ronald Conrad and wife Kathy of Blackwell; two brothers, Devoine Barnett of Barnsdall and Jack Barnett of Cleveland; a sister, Barbara Alsup of Bristow; three grandchildren, Candy Bouska of Blackwell, Laura Munger and husband James of Suwanee, Georgia, and Grady Conrad of Norman; two great grandchildren, Edward and Kaylynn White of Suwanee, Georgia; and a great great grandchild, Aurora White of Suwanee, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Uel and Jewel; and a sister, Idella.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 27th in the First Assembly of God Church in Blackwell with Rev. Bill McKissick officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be her church family. Honorary casketbearers will be Grady Conrad and Edward White.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the First Assembly of God Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
