Nancy Ann Simmons

February 21, 1939 – September 11, 2024

Nancy Ann Simmons, age 85, of Tonkawa, Oklahoma passed away on September 11, 2024, at Hillcrest Medical Center, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 211 N Main St, Tonkawa, OK with Terry Ballard officiating. Nancy will be laid to rest at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Tonkawa following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home, 505 Thunderbird Rd, Tonkawa, OK.

The viewing will be Friday, September 20 at Trout Funeral Home, 505 Thunderbird Rd., Tonkawa, OK from 9:00am-8:00pm with family visitation from 5-7:00pm.

Nancy was born on February 21, 1939, in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Harold and Mary (Dobbs) Hawkins and grew up on the family farm west of Tonkawa. Nancy graduated from Tonkawa High School with the class of 1957. She attended Northern Oklahoma College and graduated in 1959. She worked at the Security Bank and Trust Company in Ponca City for many years until she made a life decision to return to college at the age of 53. She attended the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Chickasha, OK and graduated in April 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In April 1995 she began a career as an Admission and Registration Specialist at Northern Oklahoma College, where she retired in October 2014, at the age of 75.

Nancy will be remembered as a loving mother raising her 4 children and a beloved grandmother to her 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was a lifelong friend to many, a trusted co-worker and a faithful Christian that lived out her faith in God with her determination and perseverance in battling four different kinds of cancer.

Survivors include daughters, Sandra Miles and her husband Stephen of Argyle, TX and Susan Thomas of Broken Arrow, OK; sons, Robert Simmons and wife Peggy and Richard Simmons and wife Tracy both of Tonkawa, OK. Grandchildren, Mackenzie (Miles) Pineda (Cameron), Caleb Miles (Jenna), Austin Miles, Michelle (Thomas) Howard (Michael), Brad Thomas, Matt Thomas, Torrie Simmons and Abbie Simmons. Great Grandchildren, Hestynn Pineda, Cahlynn Pineda, Dawsynn Pineda and Evangeline Miles.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary Hawkins and sisters Janice (Hawkins) Bowman and Carolyn (Hawkins) Fix.
