August 31, 1954 – February 4, 2020

Michael Neil Chapman, age 65, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away February 4, 2020. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 7, 2020, at the Hartford Avenue Church of Christ with Andrew Schwarz officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Michael was born on August 31, 1954, at Ft. Hood, Killeen, Texas to Charles M. and Georgine (Brown) Chapman. Michael grew up in several communities in Texas. Some of his favorite memories while growing up included time with his family in Mineral Wells, TX, and his Mustang Pony, “Sally”.
He married Christina Richards on January 30, 1982, in Midwest City, OK. He received a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University. While in Texas, Michael worked for the Department of Water Resources and for City Services. He later worked for the Oklahoma State Department of Health, before moving to Ponca City in 1984. After the move, he worked for Blubaugh Engineering, then he and his friends started Chapman, Parr and Gill. Michael was also the Assistant City Engineer for Ponca City. He supervised the design and construction of the Ponca City RecPlex and enjoyed taking an active part in the Ponca City Community until he suffered the first of two strokes.
Michael and his wife were members of the Hartford Church of Christ. He enjoyed horses and was an avid reader. He listened to audiobooks until the time of his passing. He loved his family more than anything and he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include; his wife, Christina, of the home; son, Phillip M. Chapman and his wife; Ashley, of Tulsa, OK. They were blessed with perfect joys, grandchildren, Michael M., Riley Quincey and Georgia Elenore Chapman; his mother, Georgine Chapman of Henryetta, (Wilson Community), OK; sisters, Sherelne Terry and her husband, Paul, of Spring, TX, Tara Gregus, of Naperville, IL; sister-in-law, Edwina Griffith and her husband, Don, of Midwest City, OK; several nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Preceding him in death was his father, Charles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Golden Villa Adult Day Services, 100 E Hartford Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
Christina and her family would like to thank the staff at Golden Villa Adult Day Services for seven years of wonderful service and assistance. They would also like to thank Dr. Brad Liston for the care and compassion he and his staff provided during Michael’s health issues. Christina would also like to especially thank the Ponca City Fire and Police Departments for the many trips made to assist in Michael’s care. Their kindness is unequaled.
