Melvin Inselman

August 14, 1931 – June 10, 2023

Melvin Lee Inselman, 91, of Perry, Oklahoma passed peacefully on June10, 2023 at his home in Perry with his family members. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church in Perry at 2:00pm with Rev. Durham officiating.

Melvin was born August 14, 1931 to Hazel Minnie (Barker) Inselman and Frederick John Inselman in Orlando, Oklahoma. Melvin was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Perry for over 60 years.

He was a proud member of the Thunderbirds, the 45th Infantry Division and served in combat in Korea until honorably discharged with wounds in June of 1952 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart.

Melvin was employed in the Research and Development Department at Ditch Witch in Perry for over 30 years where he earned a commendation for perfect attendance.

He is survived by his sister, Erna Schieffer of Enid, OK; brother, John Inselman and wife Marilyn of Lucien, OK; sons, Marty and his wife Sarah, of Shawnee, OK, Michael of Gooding, Idaho, and Matthew Scott and wife Teresa of Ralston, OK; his longtime caregiver and granddaughter, Lacie Yunker of the home; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gladys (Dean) Van Hoesen; His wife of 67 years, Mary Ellen; daughter, Marilee; and oldest son, Melvin Wayne.
