Melissa Mae Stiles
June 9, 1938 – September 20, 2023
Melissa Mae Stiles of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday evening, September 20, 2023, at her home at the age of 85 years.
Melissa Mae Stiles was born on June 9, 1938, in Blackwell to Stephen Otto and Evelyn Bernice (Marr) Lute. She grew up in Peckham, Oklahoma, and attended Newkirk Public Schools. During her senior year of high school she transferred into Blackwell High School graduating with the class of 1956.
She married Percy Dean Stiles on June 9, 1956, and they made Blackwell their home where she served her family as a homemaker. In the late 1970’s she worked for Southwest Cupid for a couple of years before returning to the home. Her husband preceded her in death on April 14, 2012, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. She loved to crochet.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Stiles and wife Jerrie of Nevada, Missouri; daughter, Michelle Williams and husband Ronny of Blackwell;; a sister, Connie Bachar of Blackwell; five grandchildren, Dylan Stiles and wife LaShonde of Blackwell, Tesha Holden of Blackwell, Kyle Stiles of Nevada, Missouri, Cassie Williams of Yukon, and Slade Stiles of Hanford, California; two great grandchildren, Emma Holden of Braman, and Bella Stiles of Blackwell; and her companion, Domingo Perez of Enid.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Opal Lute; a daughter, Stephanie Lynne Stiles; and two brothers, Stephen Lute and Larry Fultz.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 25th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Rev. Harold Hutchins of Christ’s Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24th from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Dylan Stiles, Kyle Stiles, Slade Stiles, Andy Holden, Darin Wright and Laecan Barnes.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma and a very special caregiver, Shanae Redleaf, for their loving care they provided.
