Mary Agnes Hyatt
September 18, 1932 – January 13, 2019
Mary Agnes Hyatt a long time resident of Ponca City has gone to heaven. Osage Tribal services will be held for Mary on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Grayhorse Chapel in Fairfax starting at 8:00 a.m. John Redeagle will officiate the service. Following those services, a catholic mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfax beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16th. Father Demond will officiate. Burial will follow at the Fairfax City Cemetery. Friends and welcome to pay their respects at the Grayhorse Chapel on Monday and Tuesday.
Mary Was born to Dominic and Cynthia Daniels in Ponca City on September 18, 1932. She was the oldest of nine children. She attended Fairfax Schools in her early years and graduated from Chilocco in 1950. She met the love of her life, William Hyatt in Tulsa while visiting some friends. The two fell deeply in love and were married on June 30, 1952, they were married for 65 years. The family liked to travel, making spur of the moment trips. Mary enjoyed attending Pow Wows and Indian dances. She served as an advisor for the Grayhorse In’Lonshka dances for many years. She had a special talent for making beautiful shawls for such dances. She was a member of both the Osage tribe and Kaw tribe of Oklahoma. She was descended from the Bear Clan of the Osage.
Mary raised two boys and loved her grandchildren. When the boys were small, Mary was a cub scout mom and was always attentive to their needs. She was a member of the Catholic Church and was on the bereavement committee where she assisted in making meals for the bereaved. Mary Agnes also enjoyed going to the McCord Senior Center for lunch and to visit her friends. A kind and gentle person, Mary always has a smile on her face and a hug for her family.
Mary will be greeted in heaven by her Grandfather and mother, siblings Roseanne Cunningham, Paula Fraid, Nancy Boone, John Boone, Francis FM Boone, and Georgia Lee Scharnhorst.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband William of the home, son Robert Hyatt and his wife Laura, son Michael Lynn Hyatt and his wife Michelle, grandchildren: Cara Hyatt, Anthony Hyatt and his wife Stephanie, P.J. Potter and his wife Wendi, Stephen Potter and his wife Angela, Henry Smith and his wife Bonnie, Michael Easley, and Valerie Burris and her husband Stephan. Great Grandchildren: Daryn, Ryan, Bryan, Ella, Tessa, Ayden, Levi, Chadwick, one baby boy due in February, Trevor, Holden, Leigha, Madison, Connor, Rese, Bella, Mila, Jacob, Dillon, Cole, Leland, Grant, Tre, and Audri. As well as a host of nieces and nephews.
