Martha Foell

(October 23, 1929 – January 14, 2016)

Martha Louise Foell, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at her home.

Martha was born on October 23, 1929 to L.D. and Mamie Cavender in Durant, Oklahoma. After graduating high school in Durant, Martha began working for the phone company and continued her work there for six years. On August 8, 1953, she married John Foell in her home town.

She was a devoted mother to her children and was so proud of her grandchildren. Martha was the woman who held her family together and enjoyed planning family get-together’s. Once she knew your birthday, she never forgot! It was a chance to have another party where she could bake sweet treats and make candies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister, Alma Downs, brothers, Clifford, George, and Dalton Cavender, and her grandson, John Daniel Ballard.

Martha is survived by her children, Steve Foell and wife Hien, Theresa Hoffhines and husband, Dean, Thomas Foell, Nancy McSmith and husband, James, and daughter, Mary Ballard and husband, Derrin. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Julie, Nathan, Nguyen, Zach, Josh and wife Breanna, Anna, Amy and Tony, her greatgrandchildren: Preston, Jamy, Colson, and Nikolai, her sister, Billie Hurst, brother, Edward Cavender and wife, Ruth as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Martha will be available for viewing at Trout Funeral Home on Monday and Tuesday, January 18th and 19th, from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School, 415 S. 7th Street, Ponca City, OK 74601.
