Margo Jean Thomas
September 18, 1938 – September 21, 2022
Margo Jean Thomas, 84, of Blackwell, OK, departed this life on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Hillcrest Medical center in Tulsa, OK.
Margo entered this life on September 18, 1938, in Wichita, Kansas, born to the late Maryalyce Carver and Willard Carver.
She was raised by her paternal grandparents, Winnie (Becket) and Jess Levi Carver for the first 2-1/2 years of her life. Her parents moved often in her young years to KS, New Mexico & back to Wichita, KS where she attended school until her high school years when she attended Maize High School in Maize, KS, graduating in 1956.
She married Andrew Boyd. They had a son, Brant Evan and later divorced.
She met Jerry Lee Thomas. They married on June 16, 1963 and had four children together. Rebecca Lynn, Christine Marie, Martin Ray & Kelly Wynn. They were married nearly 52 years when he preceded her in death on June 2, 2015.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and attending the kids and grandkids sports events, she was a great hostess and loved planning and hosting family events, she also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting, quilting, family genealogy, she absolutely loved spending time with her family, her love knew no bounds for many called her mom.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Winnie (Beckett, Carver, Cale) & Jess Carver and Dennis & Martha (Marcum) Cramer; her parents Maryalyce (Cramer, Carver, Hicks) & Willard Carver; stepfather, Rex O. Hicks; a sister Kathy Colvin.
Margo is survived by her five children, Brant (Ladona) Boyd, of Neosho, MO, Becky (Shane) Newby, of Blackwell, OK, Christine Whittenburg, of Duenweg, MO, Marty (Mitzi) Thomas, of Piedmont, OK, Kelly (Stacy) Thomas, of Blackwell, OK; eight grandchildren, Marissa (CJ) Hatcher, Cale (Samantha) Newby, Tyler Thomas, Alexandria Thomas, Steven Grady, Kalli Grady, Ashley (Stephen) Chaney, Tristan Whittenburg; six great grandchildren, Jayden, Elizabeth, Mikayla, Brianna, William & Brennan; 3 sister’s, Nedra (Ed) Clark, Marsha (Eldon) Smith, Denice (Richard) Blouin; 2 brother’s, Butch (Janine) Carver, Rex Hicks Jr.; 3 Sister-in-law’s, Pat (John) Dorsey, Nancy Mowder, Ruth Ann Shifflet; 1 brother-in-law, W.R. (Roseann) Hardgrave; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackwell, OK, with W.R. Hardgrave officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell cemetery.
Honorary bearers will be Brant Boyd, Marty Thomas, Kelly Thomas, Shane Newby, Cale Newby, Tyler Thomas, CJ Hatcher.
