Madelien Bessie Reutter

Madelien Bessie Reutter of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday morning, April 11, 2017, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 90 years.
Madelien Bessie Reutter was born on April 30, 1926, in Longmont, Colorado, to Cornelius French and Violet Bessie (Young) Campbell. Following the death of her parents, she moved to Newkirk to live with her aunt and uncle, Bert and Alma Waggener. She attended Newkirk Public Schools and graduated from Newkirk High School in 1944. Following her education she worked as a secretary at Newkirk High School before working at Albright Title and Trust. She married Carl R. Reutter on August 3, 1947, in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1959 they moved to a farm northwest of Blackwell. After thirty-five years on the farm, the couple returned to town on November 6, 1994. Her husband preceded her in death on July 9, 2004, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell where she held various offices within the church. She also held membership in the New Bethel Home Extension Group and assisted in gathering information for the North Central Oklahoma History Group. She enjoyed playing the piano, making hats, decorating cakes and writing.
She is survived by a daughter, Valerie Arthurs and husband Allen of Catoosa, Oklahoma; a son, Carl Reutter and wife Joyce of Ponca City; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Reutter and wife Dee, Cynthia Riggs and husband Mike, Heather Taylor and husband Jason and Melody Arthurs; six great grandchildren, Eric Riggs, Austin Riggs, Alec Reutter, Ciera Riggs, Brayden Taylor and Grayce Taylor; and a great great grandson, Dodger Riggs.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Neil Campbell; and a sister, Marjorie Turner.
Services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 15th in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with Rev. Ned Moerbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Newkirk Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Alec Reutter, Jeff Reutter, Eric Riggs, Austin Riggs, Jason Taylor and Brayden Taylor.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Trinity Lutheran Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
