February 6, 1930 – April 1, 2018

Lyndal Eldon Sloan, age 88, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018.

Lyndal was born February 6, 1930 to the late Rosa (Harris) and Quincy Sloan. He graduated Ponca City High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his service to our country, he attained an associate’s degree at Northern Oklahoma College.

In 1956, he married the love of his life Billie (Blocker) Sloan. They moved to California where he worked for AT&T. Upon retirement from AT&T, Lyndal started his own business. Upon full retirement, Lyndal dedicated his time to traveling between his homes in Oklahoma and California enjoying time with family and friends.

Lyndal especially enjoyed his time spent with his brothers James, Frank, and Carroll. He loved time with his only granddaughter Jennifer, and time with his brothers’ children and grandchildren as well. When possible, he enjoyed attending the activities of his granddaughter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lyndal enjoyed traveling with his wife Billie in their motor home, boating, watching the Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Angels and particularly enjoyed participating in water sports.

Lyndal and Billie recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Their strong loving marriage serves as an inspiration to others.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Billie; siblings, Katherine Louise Wilson of California, Carroll Sloan of Oklahoma, and Karen Clark of Oklahoma; sister-in-laws, Geri Sloan and Mary Kay Sloan; grandchild, Jennifer Lu and husband Sean of North Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Caden, Avery, Deneve, Ember, and Miriya.

Lyndal was a kind and gentle person who also served as a warm loving figure in the lives of numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Lyndal rejoined his loved ones whom preceded him in death including his daughters, Debbie Peters and Sheri Sloan; brothers, Frank and James Sloan; sister-in-law Margaret Sloan; and his parents, Rosa Belle (Harris) and Quincy Elmer Sloan.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, April 10 and Wednesday, April 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will be present on Wednesday from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to greet friends and family. A funeral ceremony to gratefully remember Lyndal’s life will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park with United States Air Force Honors.
