Lydia L. Nelson
(January 12, 1925 – March 15, 2017)
Lydia Lee Nelson, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 15, 2017. She left this world peacefully at her life long residence in Ponca City. She was 92. She was born Jan. 12, 1925, the daughter of Elbert and Ethel Kitchen, formerly of Alex, Okla.
Lydia married Oscar Nelson, October 1942, they had four children together. She was devoted to her family, the Nazarene Church and to the Lord. She served as a nurses aid in several nursing homes, hospitals and private duty settings. She always had a grandkid, or 10 around, and she loved every minute of it! She was very strong willed, worked very hard and did the very best that she could, with what she had.
She left behind grandchildren, John and April, of the home; one son, Everette Lynn Nelson and wife, Linda Nelson, of Morrison; one daughter, Lois Jean Tull and husband Larry Tull, of Argonia, Kan.; as well as 23 more grandkids, 41 great-grandkids and several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
She is reunited in heaven with her two sons, David Lee Nelson and Jimmy Dale Nelson; her parents, grandparents, husband and her 11 siblings, Edna Butzback, Rosalee Hurley, Alline Hurley, Pauline Lee, Ivy Butzback, Grady Hurley, David Hurley, Riley Hurley, Howard Hurley, Ellic Hurley and Ellis Hurley.
A graveside service will be led by the Rev. Jack Adams, Thursday March 23, at 2 p.m., at Longwood Cemetery under the direction of Trout Funeral Home. Please join the family as we celebrate the lovely life of Lydia Lee “Grandmother” Nelson.
