Obituary for Louis Shields

Louis G (Curly) Shields, Sr., resident of Ponca City, OK, passed away at Ponca City Medical Center on Sunday, March 30, 2014. He was 74.

The graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery, at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 3, 2014 with Chaplain Mike Sweetman, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Louis was born on March 9, 1940 to Clyde Shields, Sr. and Rosalie (McWhirt) Shields in Ponca City, OK. He was raised in Ponca City, OK. He was married to Susan Scott in 1985 in Las Vegas. He worked as Machinist for Smith Tool for 35 years.

He was involved in bingo, racing and going to the casinos.

He is survived by Son, Louis Glen Shields Jr., Son, Stoney Shields; sisters, Wilma Carmack, Carolyn Ailey and husband Earl; brothers, Rick Shields and wife Connie and Wesley Shields and wife Tawnya.

Preceded in death by Father, Clyde W. Shields Sr., Mother, Rosalie McWhirt, an infant son Danny Joe and wife Susan in 2012, brother Clyde Shields Jr., and brother-in-law Lynn Carmack.

Casketbearers will be Christopher Ryan, Dwayne Hurst, Travis Shields, Tracey Shields, Jarrod Sisney, and Charlie McPherson.

Honorary casketbearers will be Ernest (Hoss) Keeler who took care of him for one and a half years.
