Lois Cordell
(May 15, 1928 – January 14, 2016)
Lois Cordell, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday morning, January 14, 2016, at Alliance Health Deaconess, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 87.
Lois Nadine Cordell was born on May 15, 1928, in Little River, Kansas, to Clarence Leonard and Erma Amelia (German) Olander. She attended Rice County Schools, Lyons, Kansas through 1942 and then attended Little River Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1946. She married John Joseph “Jack” Cordell on August 28, 1950, in Little River, Kansas, and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2005. She attended Northwestern Oklahoma University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in May of 1970. She later received a Master’s Degree in Science from Oklahoma State University in 1984. She taught at the Blackwell Public School Elementary from 1970 to 1990. She enjoyed scrapbooking, painting, doing crosswords, playing piano and writing. She taught swimming lessons for many years acquiring over three thousand hours of service. She was a member of the Blackwell Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and St. Joseph’s Alter Society.
She is survived by five sons, Mark Cordell and wife Vicki of Blackwell, Steve Cordell of Blackwell, Joel Cordell and wife Marilyn of Muskogee, Jeff Cordell and wife Vicki of Sulphur Lousiana, and Michael Cordell of Blackwell; three sisters, Vila Lee Hubbard of Hutchinson, Kansas, Anita Greibel of Sterling, Colorado, and Dixie Hubbard of Wichita, Kansas; twelve grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2016, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Father Kevin Ratterman of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ponca City, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow at Blackwell Cemetery, Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Rosary services are scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2016, at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Casketbearers will be Aaron Cordell, Chance Cordell, Tanner Cordell, Jared Cordell, JJ Cordell and David Cordell. Honorary casketbearers will be Lindsey Blasi, Lauren Cordell, Leah Cordell, Lenae Olson, Andrea Dalimonte and Jessica Rovenstine.
