Lloyd Dale Bentley
September 29, 1953 — June 26, 2024
Lloyd Dale Bentley, 70, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed peacefully in his sleep on June 26, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Known by everyone as Dale, was born September 29, 1953 to Lloyd “Bud” and Ethel Sue (Martin) Bentley in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Ponca City would become home for the small Bentley family, later blessing Dale as a big brother with a sister and two brothers. Growing up, Dale enjoyed fishing, camping, and 3-wheeling with his family. He found his passion in cars, getting the fixer-ups, adding love to them and sending it on it’s way. Then he would find the next one that needed a little love.
In 1973, at the young age of 20, Dale began his life-long journey of employment with the City of Ponca City in the Parks & Rec Department. There you would find him mowing, trimming trees, and beautifying Ponca City. As the years moved up, so did Dale. He would later become an equipment operator and retired in 2018 as the Parks & Rec Supervisor. Dale had many to direct, and as the years and employees came and went, one thing always remained the same- to make Ponca City beautiful and enjoyable to all.
After retirement, Dale would go cruising around Lake Ponca enjoying some of the new projects taking place. He loved spending time with his family, reminiscing on days past, having so many good laughs and good times. All who knew Dale, knew he was an excellent conversationalist. He loved sharing stories, helpful information about anything and quite frankly, how the cow ate the cabbage.
Loved ones left behind to cherish all of Dale’s blessings and memories are his brother Randy and wife Kathy Bentley of Ponca City, OK; sister Darla and husband Danny Jones of Morrison, OK; brother Kevin and wife Tobie Bentley of Ponca City; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Dale was lovingly greeted into his eternal life by his parents, Bud and Sue.
There will be a closed casket graveside service to he held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coyle, Oklahoma on July 2, 2024 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Wildman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dale’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Words of encouragement, condolences, and memories can be shared at www.gracememorialchapel.net
