Linda Grace Wooters

October 25, 1942 – August 26, 2023

Linda Grace Wooters passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 80. Her life began on October 25, 1942, in Trenton, Nebraska with her loving parents Edd and Grace Riley. Linda grew up with her six siblings, Edna Frick, LaVerna Amann, Lolita Biehl, Nadine Skinner, Paul Riley, and Lynn Riley. After high school, Linda attended The University of Nebraska at Kearney where she met the love of her life Gerald Wooters. They married on June 14th, 1964 in Trenton, Nebraska. After a short honeymoon to the Colorado Mountains they lived for a short time in Arthur, Nebraska. They both began their teaching careers together in Silver Creek Public Schools. Three years later, they moved to Superior, Nebraska where she continued her teaching career. While living in Superior, Linda and Gary started their family. They moved with their son, Gregg and daughter Julie to Enid, OK where she continued teaching for another four years until moving to Ponca City, Oklahoma. While in Ponca City, she taught 20 years at McCord Elementary. She taught a total of 30 plus years, all but one of them being in the first grade.

Linda enjoyed camping in their 5th wheel camper. They visited over 25 states with Colorado being her favorite. She loved sewing clothing and quilting blankets for the family, friends, babies and veterans. She was a member of the Heartland Quilters for Veterans of Oklahoma and really enjoyed being a part of the group with her dear friends Betty Herard and Peggy Wilson. Other hobbies included reading bible devotions, volunteering at the McCord Senior Citizens Center and teaching little kids.

She is survived by her husband Gerald Wooters and her two kids, son Gregg Wooters (Kerri) and daughter Julie Cunningham (Chad), grandson Kristopher Wooters (Brittany), granddaughter Beth Wooters, grandsons Triston and Gavin Cunningham, and great grandson Wesley Wooters.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Grace Riley, 1 brother Paul Riley and 4 sisters, Edna Frick, LaVerna Amann, Lolita Biehl, and Nadine Skinner.

There will be a time of visitation on Thursday August 31st from 6pm-8pm at Trout Funeral Home located at 505 W Grand Ave. Ponca City, Oklahoma. Funeral service will be Friday September 1st at First Baptist Church of Ponca City at 2pm. She will be laid to rest at Longwood Cemetery at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to McCord Senior Citizens Center, 115 E. Mary Rd. Ponca City, OK 74604 or Heartland Quilters for Veterans of Oklahoma P.O.
