Obituary for Linda McConnell

Linda Kay McConnell of Braman, Oklahoma, died Sunday morning, August 30, 2015, at her home in Braman at the age of 57 years.
Linda Kay McConnell was born on April 16, 1958, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to William “Bill” and Mary (Parsons) Johnson. She grew up in Braman attending Braman Public Schools and graduated from Braman High School in 1976. She furthered her education by attending Cowley County Junior College in Arkansas City, Kansas, before attending Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, graduating with an education degree in 1981. Upon completing her degree she began her teaching career in Wilson, Kansas, and on December 11, 1982, she married Ron McConnell in Blackwell. In 1987 they moved to Braman where she taught in the Braman School system. Following her retirement in 2010 she began working at Harvey’s in Blackwell before joining the Blackwell Industrial Authority for the City or Blackwell where she was involved with tourism, industrial development and the United Way projects in Blackwell. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ron McConnell of Braman; a son, Matthew McConnell of Blackwell; two daughters, Kay McConnell of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Erin McConnell of Tonkawa; a brother, Mike Johnson of Newkirk; two sisters, Teresa Beard of Newkirk and Phyllis Johnson of Ponca City; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Billy Johnson.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 2nd in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Rev. Matt Smith of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating.
