Leona Ann Box, 86, of Ponca City, died on May 8, 2020, at Via Christi Village. Viewing will be from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2020. A private family graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, with Father Carson Krittenbrink officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral and Crematory.
Leona was a life-long resident of Ponca City. She was born on December 22, 1933, to Anton and Mary (Painter) Slovacek. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and later received an Associate Degree. She married William J. Box on November 14, 1953, in Ponca City. Leona was a bookkeeper for several banks in Ponca City before retiring. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She and her husband loved to dance and were known to clear a dance floor.
She is survived by her children; Margaret Patton and her husband, Gordon, of Ponca City, Mary Conley and her husband, Tom, of Prairie Village, KS, William A. Box of Fairfax, OK, Sandy McNeese and her husband, Hank, of Ponca City, Janie Agee and her husband, Kerry of Rockwall, TX; grandchildren, Kellee Shepherd and her husband, Scott, Sean Conley and his wife, Alejandra Dubois, Harrison Freeman and his wife, Danielle, Ellen Stone, Mary Beth Hunt and her husband, Jason, Erin Conley, Kelly Singleton and her husband, Tim, Corbin Conley and his wife, Stephanie, Ian Freeman and his wife Lindsay, Benjamin Agee and his wife, Martha Posey, Amanda Agee; great-grandchildren, Spencer Shepherd, Hannah Shepherd, Morgan Shepherd, Milo Cousineau, Hunter Cousineau, Zelda Dubois, Stark Conley, Jadzia Dubois, Eveleah Conley, Addison Conley, Issac Conley, Ashton Hunt, Porter Hunt, Nicole Freeman,Claire Freeman, Molly Singleton, Norah Singleton; sisters, Elizabeth Crane of Omaha, NB, sister-in-law, Joan Slovacek of Ponca City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, her parents, son-in-law, Ted Freeman, Jr., siblings, Erven Slovacek, Marion Slovacek, Charles Slovacek, Lawrence Slovacek, Rose Marie Warner, Dorothy Woolery, and her in-law’s, Corbin and JoEllen Box.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Via Christi Village for the love, care and compassion they gave to Leona and her family during her time with them.
