Obituary for Leland Sheets

Walter Leland Sheets of Blackwell, Oklahoma left to be with the Lord on November 25, 2013 at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 73.
Leland Sheets was born on December 23, 1939 in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was the son of Raymond and Virginia Sheets. He grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma, Arkansas City, Kansas and moved to Blackwell with his parents in 1953 and attended Blackwell Public Schools. Leland worked for Blackwell Lake and then the zinc smelter in Blackwell for many years. Leland worked as a car salesman with Ray Hamlin Chevrolet, Tom Welch Chevrolet and Sonny Cannon Chevrolet. He also worked in the oilfield industry for Texaco, B and S, Bob Boyd, Cities Services Oil Company, Conoco and Nemaha Oil Field Services. Leland enjoyed spending time with his family, grandkids and great grandkids, Table Rock Lake vacations, flying air planes and driving race cars. Leland was of the Baptist faith.
Leland is survived by two daughters Becky Scott and husband John Hladyszewski of Denver, Colorado and Renee’ Perkins and husband Marty Perkins of Dewey, Oklahoma; one son Charles "Chuck" Sheets of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; one brother Jerry Sheets and wife Lynn Sheets of Casa Grande, Arizona; one brother-in-law Bill Johnson and wife Pam Johnson of Longmont, Colorado, one nephew Dennis Stafford and wife Revere Stafford of Tomball, Texas, and one niece Sherri Shaver and husband Russell Shaver.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 42 years Lyndia Carol Sheets; his parents Raymond and Virginia Sheets; in laws A.J. and Virginia Johnson; one son Walter L. Sheets, Jr; one daughter Barbara Ann Sheets; and one nephew Timothy Stafford.
Memorial services are set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Blackwell Cemetery with Rev. Tim Perkins officiating. Burial will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family directs donations to the Intergris Hospice House of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
