Lawrence Dean Floyd of Fritch, Texas, died early Friday morning, January 6, 2016, at his home at the age of 68 years.
Lawrence Dean Floyd was born on February 10, 1948, in Borger, Texas, to Winston Howard and Fannie Odell (Burrow) Floyd. He grew up and attended Fritch Public Schools before attending Oklahoma State Tech in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where he studied automotive mechanics. Following his education he began working for the Phillips 66 Rubber Plant in Borger where he worked for twelve years. He then began driving a truck for United Petroleum Transport of Amarillo, Texas, and drove until his retirement in 2013. He was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed playing golf and dancing.
He is survived by a sister, Linda Folk of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; two brothers, Kenneth Floyd of Fritch, Texas, and Howard Floyd of Blackwell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cherry Floyd; and a brother, Johnny Floyd.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 10th in the Akins Cemetery in Akins, Oklahoma, with Rev. Vernon Smith of Akins Baptist Church officiating.
A memorial has been established in his honor with the Akins Baptist Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
