Lauri De’Ann Lopez
April 13, 1965 — May 7, 2024
Lauri De’Ann Lopez, 59, formerly of Enid, Oklahoma, traveled the path of her undeterred journey from this formidable world on her celestial passage into the heavens on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, in the early afternoon at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri after her unforeseen and impetuous, yet valiant battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Born April 13th, 1965, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to John and Mary Dennison, Lauri was the youngest of two. She was well known for her award-winning show pigs as a proud member of the F.F.A. organization she participated in while attending Chisolm High School. This is where she would meet crash into in front of Mr. King’s class and inevitably fall in love with Louis L. Lopez. Lauri and Louis would affectionately and anxiously be married on June 20th, 1984, in Anthony, Kansas in an old-fashioned shotgun wedding. (Louis reminiscing says, “I would do it all again, just a bit differently if given the chance.”) Soon after they would start their impervious and tenacious family. Eventually and inevitably having four phenomenal children.
Lauri worked ever diligently to provide for her vastly expanding family as a talented cosmetologist and a devoted LPN for over 30 years. She will always be admired for her extraordinary and unparalleled Jack-of-trades like skills that she would use to do so much good for so many people in all strides and drudgeries of life. She was an incredibly luminous beacon in an intensely dark world. Her larger than life personality and humorous, yet caring ways will forever be cherished and coveted.
To carry on her unique personality as well as her sincere and wise kindness, she was bestowed upon the world her four loving and grateful children, Amber 39, Brandon 37, Anthony, and Bryson 34, for whom she has preceded in death, but will forever be loved and missed by. Including three daughters-in-law, Ashley 34, LaTrisha 30, and Tina 38. And all eight of her adored and adorable grandchildren, whom she was forever bragging about and loved so much: Antavius 15, Lady 11, Rosalynn & Zaiden 10, Atreus 8, Skyanne 7, Colten 5, and Wren 1. Lauri was also survived by her former spouse and father of her children Louis Lopez 58. And not to forget her older brother Steve Dennison 61, and her two lovely nieces Samantha 39, and Jennifer 37. And her life long friend and sister she had always dreamed of Teresa Marshall 60, as well as her nieces and nephew: Nancy 43, David 42, and Jennifer 36.
Lauri was preceded in death by her mother Mary Elizabeth Pecha, her grandparents Allen & Mary Platt, and her beloved great aunt Lois Chapman.
We have gathered here today to not mourn the loss of an incredible mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend; but to eulogize, celebrate, and lionize a tremendously vivacious personality, sprightly spirit, and an accomplished woman. And to glorify how she will be forever treasured as a passionate, ravishing, eccentric, and breath takingly beautiful example of how an unyielding and hell-bent Pheonix can truly rise from and above the marred ashes of a detrimental past. The entire Lopez, Dennison, and Marshall families would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being with us today to honor the courageous soul of Lauri and would ever be so grateful for any memories they would like to share. Thank you.
A wake honoring Lauri’s vivacious spirit will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Ponca City, Oklahoma at 434 Fairview Ave., at 2 p.m. at Louis’ house. All friends and family are welcome. Please RSVP at 405-501-6653 or at [email protected]. Food and beverages would be the preferred gifts. Thank you very much from the entire Lopez clan.
