Obituary for Larry Newlin

Larry Newlin, resident of Ponca City, OK, passed away at Via Christi Village on October 16, 2014. He was 78.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, October 20, 2014, at the Resthaven Memorial Park with Chaplain Mike Sweetman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Larry was born on October 25, 1935, to Virgil Newlin and Juanita (Miller) Newlin in California, MO. He was raised in California and Alexandria , MO. He was married to Bonnie Powell on December 23, 1955, in Ponca City, OK. He worked as an electrical engineer for Conoco in the Exploration, Research and Development group until 1995 when he retired.

He enjoyed amateur radio and has since his early adulthood. He enjoyed designing and building projects such as antenna systems, shop equipment and even cat trees. He was an avid woodworker, building a shop at his son’s where he would spend countless hours making things. He had a fondness for the outdoors and enjoyed camping and photography.

He is survived by Wife, Bonnie Newlin, of the home; son, Terry Newlin of Ponca City, OK; and daughter Janice Potts of Broken Arrow, OK; a brother, Allen Newlin of Owasso, OK. He had three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
