Larry “Joe” Hager, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024. He was 84 years old. Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Ponca City at 10:00 am. Due to the absence of Pastor Joseph Highley, Reverend Dr. William J Shupe will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City.

Joe was born in Newkirk, Oklahoma, on August 10, 1940, to Andrew “Jack” and Doris (Baker) Hager. He was baptized on April 11, 1954, at First Christian Church in Newkirk, Oklahoma. He was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma. After graduating from Newkirk High School in 1958, Joe attended OSU Tech at Okmulgee. He graduated in April 1961 with a degree in drafting. He began working in 1962 as a draftsman at Ehrsam & Sons in Abilene, Kansas. In 1965 his career led him to Conoco in Ponca City as a draftsman and later as a registered land surveyor in the Civil Engineering Department. He retired after 30 years of service in 1995. Joe married Glenda Mayer on May 16, 1964, and celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. From this marriage, Anita Rae and Alan Joe were born. He served in many capacities both at work and at First Lutheran Church. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout life including golf, camping (especially at Beaver Lake in NW Arkansas), and fishing. Joe will be remembered by family and friends as a fun and loving man that helped to create many memories for all that he knew.

He is survived by his wife Glenda of the home, his daughter Anita Gard (Aaron) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Alan Hager (Kimberly) of Norman, Oklahoma, grandchildren Alayna, Kamden, and Keagan Hager, and sister Lynda DeAnn McDaniel (Franky) of Ponca City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Florine Hager.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church and School, 1101 N 4th St., Ponca City, OK 74601. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Pallbearers include Mark Mayer, Ron Roehl, John Mayer, Grant Sorum, Jeremy Stein, and Ian Freeman.
