Ponca City Now - May 20, 2014 12:00 am
Kenneth Biddinger was born January 14, 1938 in Nankin, Ohio in the home to Bessie Gerwig and Floyd Biddinger. He was born again on July 19, 1961. He went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2014. A celebration service will be held in his memory on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Central Baptist Church at 2:00pm in Ponca City, Oklahoma where he pastored for twenty-five years.
Kenneth Biddinger grew up in Nankin, Ohio and then found his bride, Janet Driebelbis, in West Salem, Ohio on a blind date. Turned out to be the best date of his life! They soon married on June 29th, 1957. To this union was born four children: Theresa, Anthony (Andy), Jane and Brenda.
Kenneth Biddinger was born again after being invited to church by now long-time friend, Darwin Vanwye. His wife, Janet, accepted Christ first and after watching her change, he decided to accept Christ as well. He then went to Baptist Bible College where he graduated in May of 1965.
Pastor Kenneth Biddinger served in five different churches during the life of his ministry. He pastored a church in Quenemo, Kansas, and Centrapolis, Kansas. He served for 25 years at Central Baptist Church in Ponca City before taking the pastorate at Victory Baptist Church in Talihina, Oklahoma where he pastored for 18 years. His next pastorate was in Chanute, Kansas for 9 months. He was a beloved pastor and will be greatly missed!
Bro. “B”, as he was affectionately called, loved being a pastor. Besides helping people find their way to Jesus Christ through salvation, he loved his family and grandkids. He was truly a real man who invested in others. He enjoyed many different activities and taught his grandkids how to hunt for mushrooms, to fish, to target shoot, took them on hikes and out to eat. He just spent time with his kids and grandkids, as well as great-grandkids! Above all, he taught his family how to love and serve Jesus. At this point, every family member old enough to make a decision has accepted Jesus Christ and has their eternity secure!
He was one of the most giving men you will ever meet. He was constantly helping people in need, from missionaries, to fellow preachers, to families in need. He taught us all that it is more blessed to give than to receive and that when you gave to others, God would take care of you!
On May 15th, 2014 just two days before he passed to heaven, he was awarded the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” for 50 years of faithful service in the ministry from Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of the home, all four of the children and their spouses, Theresa Trickey-Simmons and husband Wade of Clinton, Oklahoma, Anthony (Andy) Biddinger and wife Terri of Westlake, Louisiana, Jane Buckamneer and husband Mike of Girard, Kansas, and Brenda Waterloo and husband John of Ponca City, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Jerrod Trickey and wife Kristine of Clinton, Oklahoma, Sarah Jackson and husband Jason of Chanute, Kansas, Matthew Biddinger and wife Jennifer, of Ponca City, Brett Biddinger and wife, Sasha of Ponca City, Joshua Buckamneer and wife Stacy of Florence, Kentucky, Jennifer Johnson and husband Ben, of Hampton, Georgia, Jordan Buckamneer of Girard, Kansas, Jonathan Waterloo and wife Esther of Ponca City and Samuel Waterloo and wife Sarah of Park Forest, Illinois.
