Kathleen Johnson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away Monday morning, March 18, 2019, in Blackwell Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years.
Kathleen Johnson was born on August 5, 1931 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to George W. Brooks and Eunice Agnes (North) Brooks. She graduated from Seminole High School in 1949. Following school, Kathleen worked for Southwestern Bell in Oklahoma City. In the early 1950’s, she moved to Blackwell – continuing her work with Southwestern Bell as a Switchboard Operator, and later working in the Business Office. She met her late husband Jerry J. Johnson on his 23rd birthday. They were engaged in six weeks and married in three months. Together they had three sons, Harold, Mike and Steve. They remained together for sixty-one years, until Jerry’s passing in 2016.
After Kathleen retired from Southwestern Bell, she later worked for the City of Blackwell Utilities Department.
For her pastimes, she enjoyed quilting, shopping and trying new restaurants. While their sons were in school Jerry and Kathleen were proud FFA Boosters. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids and watching them play sports – be it little league football, cheerleading, basketball or baseball and their FFA activities.
She is survived by her son, Steve Johnson of Chickasha; grandchildren, Jerord Johnson and wife Jenny of Blackwell, Jana Johns of Blackwell, LaTisha Blubaugh and husband Justin of Medford, Kyle Johnson of Enid and wife Shelby of Naples FL; great grandchildren, Rocky Wood of Blackwell, Jake and Levi Johnson of Blackwell, Kenzi and Kimber Johns of Blackwell, and Addison Johnson of Naples, Florida; daughters-in-law, Debbie Johnson Fetters and husband Chris of Enid, Danna Johnson and Rick Alley of Blackwell; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerry Johnson; her sons, Harold Johnson and Mike Johnson and her brother Sam Brooks.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20th in the Roberts Chapel with Rev. Randy Ratliff of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven, KS.
Casketbearers will be Jerord Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Justin Blubaugh, Dave Buesing, Darron Oder, and Ryan Peetoom. The great-grandchildren will serve as honorary casketbearers.
