Obituary for June Walker

June Elizabeth Fallot Walker was born June 15, 1914 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. A 1932 graduate of Tonkawa schools, June attended Northern Oklahoma Jr. College graduating in 1934. Upon completion of the requirements June received her Teacher’s Degree form Central State Teacher’s College. June and R. C. Walker wed on November 22, 1936. R. C. managed Crown Drug in Oklahoma City while attending the University of Oklahoma. In 1938 R. C. and June moved to Ponca City where they eventually owned and operated Walker Drug for more than twenty-five years.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church (Chapel) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18th following a private burial. The family will receive friends at Trout Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and immediately following the memorial service in the parlor at First Baptist Church.
June was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Ponca City for more than 73 years. June filled various roles in teaching music, piano, and organ at the church. Serving as President of the Disciples Class for many years, June loved her church family. June received many awards from the Ponca City Garden Club, Ponca City Country Club, Cherokee Strip, Lions Club and other organizations. Along with R. C., June was an avid supporter of the University of Oklahoma.
June was preceded in death by her husband, R. C., her parents, her sister, Betty Wright, and her eldest son, J. Pat Walker. Survivors include Dr. Paul E. and Jeanie Walker of Edmond, Oklahoma; Mark Walker and Deb Torrey of Houston, Jana and Trent Ricker (daughters Jordan and Hadley) of Castle Hills, Texas; Kim and David Rush (Savannah and Wyatt) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Austin Klososky of Edmond, Oklahoma; Don and Phyllis Walker of Plano, Texas, Brett and Jackie Walker (Jack and Kate) of Castle Hills Texas, Kari and Chris Higgins of Dallas, Texas; Betsy and Chuck Lampe (niece) of Lakeland, Florida; sister-in-law Erma Lee Walker, San Antonio, Texas; and special friend Linda Kay Hughes of Ponca City.
June asked to honor her very dear friends who extended such love and support over the years ~ especially since moving to Via Christie ~ Glydene McDonald, Betsy Carter, Karen Cripps, Jean Glasscock, Bertha Hall, Louise Locke, Pauline Miles, Delma Jackson, Joan McMillan, Virginia Engle, Janice Yeary, Jan Scheiber
