Obituary for Joseph Zanardi

Joseph “Joe” E. Zanardi, 75 years old, of Ponca City passed away on Friday, January 31st, 2014 at 6:36 a.m. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was born on August 26, 1938, to Joseph A. and Mildred (Deibel) Zanardi. Joe graduated from Winfield High School in 1956. He married Mary A. Foiles on June 1, 1957 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arkansas City, Kansas. They made their first home in Arkansas City, Kansas before relocating to Ponca City.
Joe was a licensed and registered surveyor. He was a land surveyor for Cowley County, Kansas in the early 1960’s. In 1966, the Zanardi family moved to Ponca City from Winfield, Kansas where he took a drafting position with the City of Ponca City. Later, he was hired for the Assistant Traffic Engineer position with the City of Ponca City. He worked in this position until the fall of 1981 when he was hired as a surveyor and draftsman by the Engineering Department of Conoco Inc. in Ponca City. Upon retirement from Conoco Inc., he worked as a contract surveyor/draftsman for Foster Design until the fall of 2002.
Joe’s hobbies were reading and maintaining beautiful lawn.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Suzanne, and his Yorkshire terrier, Rudy of the home. He is also survived by his brother, Ernest Zanardi; his brother Jim Zanardi and his wife, Judy of Salina, Kansas; his sister Carlene Davis and her husband Frank of Bonita Springs, Florida; his brother-in-law Delbert Foiles and his wife, Doris of Ponca City; his brother-in-law, Jimmie Foiles and his wife, Royalyn of Towanda, Kansas; and his sister-in-law, Nadine Kalbfleisch and her husband, Larry of Hollister, Missouri;and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to any local charity.
A memorial service will be held at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 2 p.m.. The family asks that friends come and share their remembrances and stories of Joe Zanardi. The family will receive friends at 2805 Field Crest Drive in Ponca City.
