Hugh could be found most days beside the love of his life, Kathy Smart Stuart, whom he married on April 17, 1971. They enjoyed family and going to watch the activities of their three granddaughters. They also loved to take road trips, especially to Branson. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage. Hugh loved his family and his children, Karey Stuart Henderson and Nic Stuart.
Hugh was a graduate of Duncan High School and belonged to the Class of 1970. With determination and grit, he embarked on a career path that would become not just a livelihood, but a passion. For many years, Hugh served as a lineman for PSO and Westar Energy, a role he embraced with unwavering commitment and pride. He loved to tell stories of working many storms. Some of his favorite stories to tell included working to restore the power after Hurricane Katrina.
Beyond his profession and family, Hugh was a man of simple pleasure. He loved a good round of golf, fishing, and Oklahoma State University. He enjoyed old cars and motorcycles. He loved to reminisce about all the classic cars he had owned in his younger years. Most of all he enjoyed the laughter of friends and family. His legacy of love, and dedication will continue to inspire and uplift us all. He will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Catherine Stuart.
