John Kessler
July 25, 1954 — June 13, 2024
John Gilbert Kessler, 69, of Ponca City, OK, passed away on June 13, 2024. He was born on July 25, 1954, in Omaha, NE, to the late Henry C. Kessler and Jennie Bloomquist.
John had a deep love for his family and friends. In his free time, he enjoyed playing video games, with his favorites being Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and Forza series. He enjoyed reading and watching science fiction and fantasy. His favorite books were Stephen King novels.
A former member of the Army from 1973 to 1974, John served his country with honor and dedication. Following his military service, he pursued a career as an artist, a passion he cherished. When unable to work in his preferred field, he dedicated himself to serving his community as a garbage man.
John is survived by his daughters, Tawnya Wright and Amanda Kirkpatrick, as well as his brothers Rollian Bloomquist, Randy Kessler, Henry Kessler, and Phillip Kessler, his sisters Ruth Weed and Corlynda Gorman, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Kessler, his parents, his brother Chris Kessler, and his sisters Marletta Mounce and Laura Carbaugh.
A memorial service will be arranged for a later date. Contributions in John’s memory can be made to organizations supporting cancer or COPD research.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
