Ponca City Now - February 21, 2024 10:39 am
March 18, 1960-Feb 16,2024 Joe Robertson was 63 years old when he was called home to his Maker! Joe was born in Fairfax, OK., the third son of Bobby Moore (Moose) and Vada Rose Robertson of Webb City. Joe attended church and Sunday School at Webb City Methodist in his youth and transitioned to Shidler Methodist . He attended Shidler Public Schools, and graduated in 1978. He later attended Oklahoma State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Television and Radio. Joe’s first job in summer off season was an internship at KATT radio in OKC, where he met another DJ that had also gone to Shidler schools and whom was in his brother Ed’s class! He later worked as a DJ at alt rock KTOW in the 90’s in Sand Springs. Joe later moved to ABC Ch 8 in Tulsa doing commercial voice-overs and audio board operator, and later to Ch 2 doing the same, where he retired after many years of getting up early at 4:15 to do the morning news show. He was most happy becoming the loving father of Caitlin Anne in 1996 with wife Moura with whom he remained friends. Caitlin was the light of his life…after his faith in the Lord! Amen! In retirement he formed a little company called ‘Joe’s Bikes’ and repaired many bikes to new quality. Joe was also an amateur paleontologist and archaeologist who spent many hours on the river searching for mastodon bones, tusks, and buffalo skulls. He loved exploring the outdoors and collecting various discoveries with his friends Howie and Dave. Phillip was right in there for the good times too, as were many more friends! He loved Western art and was creative artist as well, of which he took after his mother. He was a friend of animals and enjoyed spending time on his patio feeding walnuts to various wild squirrels that became friends with him! He missed his dog Marco, and a few others before Marco. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his daughter Caitlin of the home, who is skilled in hair styling and teaching that occupation, and travels nationwide doing so; soon to NYC again. Also two brothers, Scott Alan of Edmond and Eddie Bob of Webb City, nephews Alex of Edmond, and Joseph of Brooklyn, N.Y., numerous cousins, and Aunt Reba of Tulsa. Wake was held Tues at the home, and funeral will be Saturday 1 pm Feb 24 at Shidler United Methodist Church with catered lunch at 12 noon. R.I.P. Joe,,,you were greatly loved by many and will be missed. Contributions can be made to Multiple Myeloma Foundation. Rest in God’s eternal peace Joe, you did well.
