Jerry Lynn White
(August 7, 1942 – February 28, 2016)
Jerry Lynn White of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died late Sunday evening, February 28, 2016, in the AllianceHealth Ponca City at the age of 73 years.
Jerry Lynn White was born on August 7, 1942, in Blackwell to Arthur Virgil and Phyllis Aileen (Koch) White. He grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools. During his high school years he moved with his family to Kimball, Nebraska, where he graduated from Kimball High School. Following his education he began working in the oilfields before entering the United States Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Blackwell and began working at the Turvey Packing Plant. He later furthered his education by receiving an associate degree from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. Upon completion of his degree he began working as a service technician for Xerox Corporation and maintained and serviced contracted equipment for Conoco in Ponca City. In 1993 he began working at Southwest Cupid Industries in Blackwell as a mechanic and retired in 2009. He was a member of Christ’s Church and the American Legion in Blackwell. He enjoyed long distance bicycling trips and building computers. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his companion, Jean Looper of Blackwell; a son, Steven White of Charles City, Iowa; a sister, Janice Leaming of Newkirk; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Jerry “Lynn” White II and twin sons, Todd and Michael White; and a brother, Charles A. White.
A memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Wednesday evening, March 2nd in Christ’s Church in Blackwell with Rev. Milo Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Blackwell Cemetery at a later date.
