March 19, 1944 – June 3, 2024

Jeanette Marie Fairbanks, long time resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma went home to be with her Lord Jesus on June 3, 2024 at home with her family by her side. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 5-8 PM, with family present from 5-6 at Trout Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Carolyn Renfro Event Center at 445 Fairview Avenue in Ponca City. Her graveside service will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Ponca City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Jeanette Hunt was born on March 19, 1944 in Glendale, California to Glenn and Betty Hunt. She graduated from Cleveland High School, Cleveland, Oklahoma in May of 1962 and soon after, she married the love of her life, Victor Fairbanks in Ellsworth, Kansas. On June 25, 2024 they would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Jeanette and Victor moved to Ponca City in June of 1968 with their oldest son Jim when Victor started work for Continental Oil Company.

Jeanette is survived by her husband Victor, her son Jim Fairbanks and wife Mandy of Ponca City, her son Steve Fairbanks and wife Cyndi of Emory, Texas, grandsons Scott Fairbanks and wife Juanita, Dan Fairbanks and wife Elizabeth and Josh Fairbanks and wife Noel all of Edmond, Oklahoma, granddaughter Hannah Fairbanks of Emory, Texas, two great granddaughters Evalyn and Eden Fairbanks, sisters Carol Middleton and Marilyn Miller, brother Sonny Hunt and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by an infant son Scott Alan Fairbanks and her parents Glenn and Betty Hunt.

Jeanette was a homemaker for many years and also worked as a Pharmacist Technician for Family Pharmacy in Ponca City for over 20 years from the mid 1970’s until the early 1990’s. She also volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels in Ponca City for several years after her retirement. She served in various positions with the Christian Women’s Club and participated in many home bible studies throughout her life. She served faithfully in church, playing the piano and organ and serving as Sunday school teacher for children of various ages. Many years of her church service were at Grace Community Church in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. She was instrumental in teaching her children and grandchildren about the Lord and leading them to salvation in Jesus.

She was an excellent cook and loved preparing meals and entertaining her family during the holidays and on special occasions where she also enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with family. She also enjoyed taking trips to Branson with both family and friends and spending time at Silver Dollar City and enjoying the various shows. She was most proud of all the accomplishments of her sons and grand children and made sure to attend all of their school and athletic events throughout their lives. She was sure to let everyone know how proud she was of all their accomplishments. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. The family is comforted by the fact that we know we will see her again in heaven along with the other family and friends that loved the Lord.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, Inc, 445 Fairview, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601. Thank you to all the caretakers from hospice that were a great blessing to Jeanette during her final days.
