Jean Bergman of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday evening, August 7, 2021, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years.
Mildred Jean Bergman was born on February 13, 1940, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Harve Baxter and Laura Fern (Oard) Cathey. She attended Braman Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1957. She married George Morgan Bergman on January 1, 1959, in Braman, Oklahoma, and this year they celebrated sixty-two years of marriage. She was a member of the First Church of God, Blackwell, Oklahoma. She played piano at her church and spent many years teaching piano lessons. She was an avid sports fan, either watching on television or attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and stock shows. She enjoyed riding horses and was a member of the Braman Saddle Club. She also enjoyed playing cards, swimming, bowling and shopping. She loved cooking for her family during harvest time and assisting with the family operation. Jean was a member of the Variety Fun Club and was a member and former president of the FFA Booster Club. She never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her husband, Morgan Bergman, of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one daughter, Cathey Ebert and husband Joe of Medford, Oklahoma; two sons, Brett Bergman and wife Bobbi of Blackwell, and Lance Bergman and wife Kelli of Blackwell; seven grandchildren, Justin Ebert, Derek Ebert, Skye Bergman, Colt Bergman, Shantel Bergman, Brooke Bergman and Blake Bergman; 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Beverly McKinnis; and two brothers, DeaWayne Cathey and Delmer Dean Cathey.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2021, at the Braman Methodist Church, Braman, Oklahoma, with Rev Daniel Gibbins of Braman Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, August 12th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Casketbearers will be Justin Ebert, Derek Ebert, Skye Bergman, Colt Bergman, Blake Bergman, Brooke Bergman and Shantel Bergman. Honorary Casketbearers will be the caregivers of Jean Bergman.
The family of Jean would like to thank her caregivers, who were a blessing not only to Jean but also to Morgan and the entire family.
