James (Jim) Wilkinson

June 10, 1927 — August 22, 2024

James (Jim) Wilkinson, 97, beloved Father, Grandfather, and Brother, was called to his eternal resting place on August 22, 2024. He entered this world on June 10, 1927, in Oilton, Oklahoma, born to Homer E. and Goldie Levings Wilkinson.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2024in the Northeast Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Melton officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. under the care of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City, OK.

Jim served his country in the United States Army while in the Army he met the love of his life, Shirley M. Weems and they were married following Jim’s discharge from the United States Army and they made their first home in Tulsa, OK and moved to Ponca City in 1951.Shirley preceded him in death in October of 1996. Jim was blessed to find true love again with Sherry Burgert and they were married July 24, 2000, and they made their home in Blackwell, OK. Unfortunately, she preceded him in death on November 2, 2019. Jim enjoyed life and serving his church, Northeast Baptist Church singing in the Choir and Cantatas during easter and travelling around with Bethel Builders, building churches. Jim also enjoyed camping.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son Frank Wilkinson and wife Melissa of Paris, AR, Three grandchildren: Lori Morrison of Ponca City, OK Chad Wilkinson also of Ponca City, OK Shawndalyn Wilkinson of Guthrie, OK. One sister Virginia Cotton of Daytona Beach, Florida, Five great grandchildren, Seven great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Shirley and Sherry, one son James Wilkinson Jr and Three brothers.
