June 30, 1941 – October 18, 2018
James “Jim” A. Harris, Jr. passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 in Oklahoma City. He was 77 years old. A memorial ceremony for Jim will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Trout Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Jack Adams officiating. Following the ceremony, Jim will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park with military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Jim was born on June 30, 1941 in Richmond, Virginia to his parents, James Alfred Harris, Sr. and Katherine Rosamond (Roscher) Gilley. Jim joined the United States Air Force in February of 1961 and retired after 22 years of service. After working as a Structural Technician in the Air Force, Jim worked as a field technician with Pitney Bowes, and then as an booking officer with the Ponca City Police Department. Jim was a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge.
On January 28, 1979, Jim married Freda Joyce (Edmonds) Harris. They had 39 happy years together. They have been blessed with many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Harris, children, Cliff Abraham and wife Bonnie, of Oak Harbor, WA, Todd Harris, of Lincoln, TX, Kim Mozley and husband Wayne, of Cheyenne, WY, and Cyndi Lehmann and husband Landis, of Lincoln, TX, grandchildren, Amanda, Kimber, Brandon, Rachael, Lathe, Chaz, Cayden, Byler, Nevaeh, Priscilla, and Ethan, great grandchildren, Oliver, Liyla, Kolbin, Charli, and Greyson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jimmy Harris.
